Our Artists

This year, the Culture's Compass Team conducted an open call for emerging talent to showcase their work in our virtual gallery. The artists were requested to submit their most recent art pieces that best represented resilience during COVID-19.

The submissions were numerous and highly creative (thank you all participants for your interest). After a rigorous selection process, the following emerging artists were chosen to participate in the Culture's Compass 2021 digital Gallery.

Su Tarhan is a Toronto based artist who grew up in Izmir, Turkey and Montreal, Canada. The rich variety of cultures and environments she has been exposed to have amplified her awareness, appreciation, and understanding of her surroundings. Her work expresses her impressions through many mediums including writing, photography, film, drawing, painting, sculpture, and installation; she leverages her background in graphic design to incorporate composition, structure, material, and form into her art.
